So,
I like to simplify a fraction first. This is what I do when I'm in a store trying to find the unit price.
![\frac{14}{16}](https://tex.z-dn.net/?f=%20%5Cfrac%7B14%7D%7B16%7D%20)
Factor.
![\frac{2*7}{2*2*2*2}](https://tex.z-dn.net/?f=%20%5Cfrac%7B2%2A7%7D%7B2%2A2%2A2%2A2%7D%20)
Cross out ones.
![\frac{7}{2*2*2}](https://tex.z-dn.net/?f=%20%5Cfrac%7B7%7D%7B2%2A2%2A2%7D%20)
Multiply it out.
![\frac{7}{8}](https://tex.z-dn.net/?f=%20%5Cfrac%7B7%7D%7B8%7D%20)
In my head, I remember that one-eighth is equal to 0.125.
So seven-eighths is equal to 0.125 times 7.
0.125 * 7 = 0.875
Convert to percent form.
0.875 --> 87.5%
James answered 87.5% of his quiz correctly.
I actually have the decimal equivalents for eighths in my head when I'm shopping. So once I get seven-eighths, I immediately know how much that is. I can also subtract 0.125 from 1.000 to get seven-eighths.

Hey There!
The answer to your problem is
or
both answers are correct!
<u>Step 1: Subtract x²+12 from both sides.</u>
−7x−(x²+12)=x²+12−(x²+12)
−x²−7x−12=0
<u>Step 2: Factor left side of equation.</u>
![(-x-3)(x+4)=0](https://tex.z-dn.net/?f=%28-x-3%29%28x%2B4%29%3D0)
<u>Step 3: Set factors equal to 0.</u>
or ![x+4=0](https://tex.z-dn.net/?f=x%2B4%3D0)

Notice that the 2 expressions have 2 common terms.
(r-s) is just (s-r) times (-1)
similarly
(t-s) is just (s-t) times (-1)
this means that :
(r-s) (t-s) + (s-r) (s-t)=-(s-r)[-(s-t)]+(s-r) (s-t)
the 2 minuses in the first multiplication cancel each other so we have:
-(s-r)[-(s-t)]+(s-r) (s-t)=(s-r) (s-t)+(s-r) (s-t)=2(s-r) (s-t)
Answer:
