moins le quart = a quarter to
midi et demie = half past (twelve thirty)
a quarter to nine = neuf heures moins le quart
a quarter past nine = neuf heures et quart
half past nine = neuf heures et demie
usually from 1 to noon , it"s a.m.In French it's 1, 2 etc till 11heures then midi
then, we usually go from treize heures.....till vingt-trois heures and finally minuit instead of 1p.m. till 11 p.m.
