The movement of tectonic plates causes a variety of geological changes, the most obvious of which would be earthquakes. These plates are pretty big, and when they scrape along the top of the earth, they can cause quite the seismological tremors. Also, they can generate either trenches or mountain ranges along faults (the cracks between two plates). Hope that helped =)
