Why did Roosevelt deliver the "Four Freedoms" as part of the State of the Union address?

History

The Four Freedoms speech, by FDR, was implemented to outline some rights that all people should have, regardless of where they live. These include:

1) Freedom of speech
2) Freedom of worship
3)Freedom from want
4) Freedom from fear

The reason FDR talked about these freedoms was because of the ongoing war in Europe. During this time, dictators were taking over several different parts of Europe. People like Hitler and Mussolini spread their reign through free and repressing freedoms. By establishing these freedoms, FDR was outlining important rights that all people should have and how the US will continue to ensure these for American citizens.
