Which equation best represents a trend line for the scatter plot?
kvasek [131]
Y = (-3/7)x + 4

Looking at the graph, you can see the trend line plotted. And conveniently, there are a couple of points on the trend line that are indicated. Those points being (0,4) and (7,1). The equation of a line in slope intercept form is:y = ax+b

Looking at the points available, the point (0,4) already gives us the y intercept since x is equal to 0. So our equation becomes:
y = ax + 4

Now we need to determine a which is the slope. The slope is the change in y divided by the change in x. So let's do that
(1-4)/(7-0) = -3/7

And now our equation becomes:
y = (-3/7)x + 4

And given formatting issues, the first option available is the correct one.

Can someone please help me out! and please explain your answer, and how you got it right! thank you so much!
Contact [7]

It is

24x - 30

The equation for area of a trapezoid is

\frac{1}{2} (a + b) \times h

Substituting our values in

\frac{1}{2} (3x + 7 + 5x - 3) \times 6

We can then simplify the expression

\frac{1}{2} (8x - 10) \times 6 \\ (4x - 5) \times 6 \\ 24x - 30

Prior to September, 2000, taxi fares from Washington DC to Maryland were described as follows: $2.00 up to and including 1⁄2 mil
GREYUIT [131]

The piecewise function is

f(x) = 2, 0 < x ≤ 1/2

f(x) = 2 + 0.7x, x > 1/2

<h3>How to determine the piecewise function?</h3>

From the question, we have:

Fares = $2.00 ⇒ up to (and including) 1/2 miles

Fares = $0.70 increment ⇒ greater than 1/2 miles

Let x represent the number of miles, and f(x) the fares.

So, we have:

f(x) = 2, 0 < x ≤ 1/2

f(x) = 2 + 0.7x, x > 1/2

The above represents the piecewise function
