The Anti-Federalists were a group of people at the Constitutional Convention that fought for the inclusion of a list of rights that would be guaranteed to the American citizens. Anti-Federalists felt that without this specific list of rights, the federal government may act tyrannical. Ultimately, the Bill of Rights was agreed upon after much debate with the Federalists. This still exists today and included imperative civil liberties like the freedom of speech and religion.
