Give one argument in favor of the Tea act and one argument against the Tea act?

History

The Tea Act would serve as to limit enforced inflation on tea stock internationally due to eased export, as well as to aid financially crippled British East India Company.
The Tea Act would also lead to tea prices being unfairly regionally based, rather than fairly marketed. Increased company profits don't necessarily stimulate economy.

In favor: from the point of view of the British, the act gave the East India Company an advantage and supported the company's economic situation. Argument against: from the point of view of the American population this was an imposition of Britain's will on the Americans and a tax on Americans (who were taxed but did not have the power over themselves) - so it was an unfair rule imposed on them, from which they had no benefit at all, only loss.  An argument in favor of the Tea Act would be that tea is an important resource in the British Empire and it is important that its subjects buy British tea and also pay a tax to support the British Crown. The British Government protects its subjects and provides for them so it is necessary that these subjects pay the proper taxes. An argument against this tax is that the tax is illegitimate and violates colonists rights to no taxation without representation. Without proper representation then colonists should not have to pay this high taxes.

Which idea did the enlightenment thinkers lead the founding fathers to believe?
xenn [34]

2. That people should hold their governments accountable

Explanation:

  • In ethics and politics, the Enlightenment strongly opposed any form of legal inequality between people, advocating freedom of thought and press, religious tolerance, and in general what they thought was “reasonable”.
  • According to them, the form of government can be justified only before the court of the people who are governed, that is, they should consent to it, judging reasonably about the actions of the authorities and social order.
  • Thus, instead of lasting and unchanging foundations in tradition and faith, society is based on the variable consent of people.
