The greatest misfortune is that Englishmen and their Indian associates in the administration of the country do not know that the

y are engaged in the crime I have attempted to describe. I am satisfied that many Englishmen and Indian officials honestly believe that they are administering one of the best systems devised in the world and that India is making steady though slow progress. They do no know that a subtle but effective system of terrorism and an organized display of force on the one hand, and the deprivation of all powers of retaliation or self-defense on the other, have emasculated the people and induced in them the habit of simulation. This awful habit has added to the ignorance and the self-deception of the administrators.
What is the main idea of this excerpt from “Gandhi Defends His Beliefs”?

The Englishmen are compassionate and honest politicians.
Colonization has had a positive effect on the Indian identity.
Those with power in India are intentionally terrorizing the people.
Those with power in India are unaware of the consequences of their actions.

Those with power in India are unaware of the consequences of their actions.

The excerpt begins by stating how the Englishmen and Indian officials are unaware of the negative effects their actions have on the people. Towards the end, the excerpt again states their oblivion and goes on to explain exactly how their actions are harming citizens.

1. Water - one of the most important natural resources for the existence of life. Fresh water is consider a renewable resource, but most of the water humans drink comes from ground water sources that are being depleted faster than they can be replenished.

2. Helium- helium is necessary as a cooling medium for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), superconducting magnets in MRI scanners and NMR spectrometers, and satellite instruments.

3. Bauxite - Bauxite is the main ingredient in making aluminum metal, and nearly all aluminum produced has been extracted from bauxite. It is also used in hydraulic fracturing, a process in drilling for oil and gas.

Imagine you are Jimmy Wells and describe your encounter with Bob in about 100 words.(First answer brainliest)
faltersainse [42]

I think that part of a letter that Jimmy would write would focus on why he had to arrest Bob. The note that Jimmy writes to Bob when he is arrested would be a starting point as to why Jimmy would be disturbed: "Bob: I was at the appointed place on time. When you struck the match to light your cigar I saw it was the face of the man wanted in Chicago. Somehow I couldn't do it myself, so I went around and got a plain clothes man to do the job. JIMMY." For Jimmy, his letter to Bob would center about how he felt agonized in arresting him. In the line, "I couldn't do it myself," there might be the basis of a letter to Bob.

Jimmy would talk about how their friendship as kids, the personalities they both had, experienced a change as they became older. When Bob talks about how Jimmy was a bit of a "plodder," it might belie the fact that Bob has embraced breaking the law in order to find success. The letter that Jimmy writes to Bob might delve into this reality, one in which Jimmy has recognized the need to accept the law no matter what the cost. Jimmy's allegiance to the loyalty supersedes his loyalty to Bob, something that is evident in both the note he wrote to him as he was arrested, as well as the agony he feels now that he had to make the arrest. The letter to Bob would talk about how Jimmy felt agonized at doing what he did. Perhaps, it might involve a level of pleading to Bob that he would understand, or it might be more informative in terms of explaining his actions, but I think that the letter to Bob would be rooted in much of what the note to Bob indicated.

How differences between romeo and juliet returned to threaten their future together
nasty-shy [4]
Both families hate each other, but R falls for J and vice versa. This causes R to kill T in revenge for M's death and he must leave to some shanty-town; T doesn't like R, vice versa, and despite R loving J and therefore wanting to love her family, he can't bring himself to forgive T for M's death and it might because of R's family hating J's family. J wants to find a way run away with R and decides to fake her death since her family cannot forgive R and R did commit a murder that should be paid with his own head. A letter is sent, but R doesn't get it since he decides to return after hearing of J's "death". He ends up fighting P who was to be J's husband and commits suicide. J wakes up and finds R dying and kills herself too so they can both be together forever. The whole "I hate you" is the reason why they both died. They could of ran off together, but their families would track them down and blame the other which would probably lead to both of R's and J's deaths. Hatred leads to M's, T's, and P's death since M was hated for being friendly with R's family, T's death was in revenge and perhaps a subconscious hatred of J's family, and P's death came from P blaming R for for J's "death" and perhaps a hatred for R's family as well. Basically, this story is about stupid things screwing over stupid, but nice people.
