On the number line above, points A, B, C, and D are integers, and AB: BC: CD = 3:2:1. What is the length of AC?
NeX [460]

Using proportions, it is found that the length of AC is of 15 units.

<h3>What is a proportion?</h3>

A proportion is a fraction of a total amount, and the measures are related using a rule of three.

The ratios in this problem are given as follows:

  • \frac{AB}{BC} = \frac{3}{2}.
  • \frac{BC}{CD} = \frac{2}{1}.
  • \frac{AB}{CD} = \frac{3}{1}.

The entire length is of 18 units, AB is half of that, hence:

AB = 0.5 x 18 = 9 units.

BC is two thirds of the length from 6 to 15, hence:

BC = 2/3 x (15 - 6) = 6

Thus, the length of AC is:

AC = 9 + 6 = 15 units.

FAST ASAP WILL MARK BRAINLIST IM TIMED A LOTTTT OF POINTS
Delicious77 [7]

Answer:

The height is 6.5 ft

Area of the base is 36 ft^2

Step-by-step explanation:

The Volume is

V = l * w* h

We know w= 4.5  and l = 8  and the volume is 234

234 = 8*4.5 *h

234= 36h

Divide each side by 36

234/36 = 36h/36

6.5 = h

We want to find the area of the base

B = w*l

B = 8*4.5

B = 36 ft^2

In the relationship shown by the data linear ? If so , model the data with an equation A. The relationship is not linear B. The
dybincka [34]

Let's take two points so that we can get the equation of the line which goes through those points. P1 (-9, -2), P2 (3, -17):

m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}=\frac{-17-(-2)}{3-(-9)}=\frac{-17+2}{3+9}=-\frac{15}{12}=-\frac{5}{4}\begin{gathered} y-y_1=m(x-x_1) \\ y-(-2)=-\frac{5}{4}\cdot(x-(-9)) \\ y+2=-\frac{5}{4}\cdot(x+9)_{} \\ y=-\frac{5}{4}x-\frac{45}{9}-2 \\ y=-\frac{5}{4}x-7 \\ f(x)=-\frac{5}{4}x-7 \end{gathered}

So, y is the line which goes through the first and last points of the chart.

To proof that the rest of points go through the line as well, we will evalute each point

\begin{gathered} f(-5)=-\frac{5}{4}\cdot(-5)-7=\frac{25}{4}-7=-\frac{3}{4}\ne-7 \\ f(-1)=-\frac{5}{4}(-1)-7=\frac{5}{4}-7=-\frac{23}{4}\ne-12 \end{gathered}

Since the evaluation of these points don't correspond to the values of the chart we can assure that the relationship is not linear

The Earth rotates every 24 hr and as diameter of 7, 926 mi. If you're standing on the equator, how fast are you traveling in mil
Vlada [557]
<h3>Answer: Approximately 1038 mph</h3>

The more accurate value is 1037.51097384802

Round that however you need to.

=======================================

Explanation:

We need the circumference of the equator. Think of the equator as the largest possible circle (or belt) to fit around the earth.

C = pi*d

C = pi*7926

C = 7926pi

C = 24,900.2633723527

In 24 hours, a person at the equator travels roughly 24,900.2633723527 miles since the earth does a full rotation in this timespan.

Divide the two quantities distance over time to get the speed

rate = distance/time

rate = (24,900.2633723527 miles)/(24 hours)

rate = ( (24,900.2633723527)/(24) ) miles per hour

rate = 1,037.51097384802

rate = 1038 mph

I'm rounding to 4 sig figs since the diameter is given to be in four sig figs.

This speed of roughly 1038 mph is a linear speed and not an angular speed.

-----------------------------

Extra info (optional section)

Upon further research, I found an article from NASA JPL (jet propulsion laboratory) which states quote:

<em>"To make one complete rotation in 24 hours, a point near the equator of the Earth must move at close to 1000 miles per hour (1600 km/hr)"</em>

Their figure of 1000 mph seems to be a rough estimate, more or less. It's fairly close to the 1038 figure we got earlier.
