Each character in the story "The Canterbury Tales" are considered allegorical because they represent the different aspects of society in their times.

The Canterbury Tales is considered as an allegorical work because it signifies other instances than what is actually happening in the story.

The journey in the story symbolizes the journey of man from Earth to the heavens where Canterbury symbolizes heaven.
