Cultures have been creating celebratory ‘cakes’ (the term cake and bread were often interchangeable) for thousands of years. However, cakes, specifically for birthdays, similar to what we enjoy today, are believed to have originated in Germany in the 1400’s. Before that time, cakes were almost solely for the celebration of weddings but bakeries began to market them for birthdays as well.

As with the marketing of birthday cakes, the addition of candles is also attributed to the Germans around the 1700’s when Kinderfesten, birthday celebrations for children, became more common. The custom was to place a candle for each year of their life as well as extra candles to represent years to come.

Essentially, there are a lot of reasons as to why people turn to both religion and philosophy. This could have something to do with the way they were brought up or their very own beliefs. Each religion has different ways and teachings. For Medieval China, they were traditionally into Taoism and Confucianism since these two provided ethical guides to the proper behavior of individuals and officials. Taoism promoted the inner peace of individuals and harmony with their surroundings. Confucianism, based on the teachings of the famous philosopher Confucius, was an ethical system that sought to teach the proper way for all people to behave in society. Each relationship--husband-wife, parents-children, ruler-subjects--involved a set of obligations which, if upheld, would lead to a just and harmonious society. Why weren’t the Shah’s policies well received by some of the Iranian people?
densk [106]

Answer:

Because Iraqis believed that Shah's policies departed from the concepts advocated by Islam and was an attempt to move closer to Western concepts.

Explanation:

The last Shah of Iran developed revolutionary policies that deeply disintegrated Iranians and started a series of conflicts known as the "white revolution".

These policies included economic and social reforms, which according to the last Shah, would lead Iran to become a strong world power. These reforms included the adoption of various Western policies in all political, economic and social sectors in the country. Among the changes we can mention the adoption of western clothes by men, the abandonment of the use of the veil by women, the permission for men and women to be together in any situation, the release of elements of American culture such as films and music, among other factors .

The Iranian population concluded that these policies violated the main concepts defended by Islam, in addition to being an attempt to bring the country closer to Western libertinism. As a result, most of the population was unhappy with the policies established by the Shah.
