Answer: Metaphor

A metaphor is a literary device that directly compares two dissimilar things that are alike in one respect. In this poem, Dickinson is comparing fame with a bee. She thinks both have a song (a positive, beautiful side) as well as a sting (a major flaw, or an element that can cause you harm). Finally, they also have a wing (they can elevate you). This is an example of a metaphor.
