<span>The Boston Rebellion was an uprising in 1689 against Sir Edmund Andros, the English governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Andros had been charged with reorganizing the colony, a project which included the enforcement of various restrictions on trade -- notably the navigation act -- but also involved imposing freedom of religion (and catholic office holders) on Boston's largely puritan population.
