The Age of Enlightenment coincided with the American
Revolution, during which time the people asked, “Why should we follow British
rule.” The revolution was a political upheaval that took place between 1765 -
1783. The colonists in the Thirteen American Colonies rejected the British
monarchy and aristocracy, overthrew the authority of Great Britain and thus
founded the United States of America. From 1765, the colonists already started
to go against the authority of the British Parliament.
