Answer:

Let's look at this sentence first since it's the most simple one:

"Does it stink like rotten meat?"

Explanation:

Step one (green):

First off, this is a simile. The "like" isn't the simile itself but just a key that is helpful for finding the simile.

Similes are things like "This song is like my favorite album's music." The WHOLE sentence is the simile.

Now, hopefully you've got that :)

Step two (yellow):

For this, we are looking at what is being compared. For this case "it" and "rotten meat" are being compared.

Again looking at "This song is like my favorite album's music." The "song" and "music" are being compared.

Let's look at another one in this assignment -

"Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun?"

For this case, "it" and "raisin" are being compared.

Make sense?

Step three (blue):

Let's look at: "Does it stink like rotten meat?"

What is the action verb. Well by looking at this none of them are verbs EXCEPT stink. Some might say "he's stinking really bad today." That is an action VERB. Hope that helps :)

weeeeeb [17]

Answer:

I wouldn't consider pancakes to be my favorite breakfast food. The reasoning for this is that to me they are very dry no matter how they are made. You have to cover then in lots of butter or peanut butter and syrup just to get them most and to a delicious flavor. You have to chug milk after every bite as well because of how dry they are. My favorite breakfast meal is eggs, bacon/sausage, and toast. It is a good variety and all three-four foods have a magnificent flavor. My favorite meal of the day would either be breakfast or supper. Eating good food in the morning provides me lots of energy to go throughout the day but a delicious supper makes me feel full and ready to get the rest of the day done so i can go to bed.

Anna35 [415]

Answer:

By the end of the novel, nick leaves the east for the midwest because he views the midwest as a place of traditional values and attention to morality.

Explanation:

Nick Carraway is the narrator in the novel "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald. By the end of the story, he returns to the midwest, leaving the east after going through a great deal. While living close to New York and after mingling with the high society from that time, Nick has seen it all. All types of sins, criminals accusing criminals, betrayers pointing fingers at betrayers. He has seen a world of vapid people whose only purpose is to party their troubles away. They drink, dance, gossip, have affairs, and despise one another, all in an effort to forget their own faults, their own sadness. After the main character, Gatsby, is killed as a result of a provoked misunderstanding, Nick has had enough. He's done with the hypocrisy of the wealthy. He goes back to a place of traditional values and attention to morality.
