We can take Latin American civilizations who changed the cooking of European civilizations. The pineapple for example was a rarity because it grew only in the Americas and its transportation was extremely costly which meant that it was expensive to procure. This is why it became one of the most sought fruit in Royal households which also meant that it was fashionable so everyone had to try it, and it infiltrated our cuisine and stayed that way.
