Answer: Complex sentence.

Explanation: a complex sentence is a sentece formed by an independent clause (a phrase that has complete meaning on its own) and at least one subordinate or dependent clause (a phrase that doesn't have completin the given excerpt meaning on its own). In the given sentence we have a subordinate clause: "While I was cleaning out my closet the other day" and an independent clause: "I came across my favorite pair of childhood shoes: purple and black jellies with gold buckles."

Do you mean as in simple, compound, etc? If so, I believe it's complex.
-"While I was...(to the comma) is a dependent clause.
-"I came across...shoes" is an independent clause.
-What remains after the colon doesn't classify as a clause.
So dependent + independent =
Complex.
I hope this is what you were asking about. :)

Tag question. They decided to have a wash,........they? (have/didn't/haven't)
Basile [38]

Answer:

C. Haven't

Explanation:

I figured this out by the process of elimination.

"They decided to have a wash have they." This sentence doesn't make sense because this is not the right word to fill in the blank.

"They decided to have a wash, didn't they." Also does not make sense because it is not the right type of past, present, or future tense.

"They decided to have a wash, haven't they." This is the only word that fits this sentence.
