Immigration in the late 19th century in the US was the highest immigration numbers of all time. As nationalist movements in Europe pushed people out, the fast growing industrialization pulled people into the US. Immigrants began coming from Eastern and Southern Europe for the first time bringing many Catholics, Jews, and even Muslims in addition to many languages and cultures not known in the US. These groups created ethnic communities in cities where their language and culture could continue. Americans reacted in one of two ways: nativism or reform.
The nativists claimed to be the "native" Americans focused on racial issues and white "native" Americans being the rightly members of the United States.
Reformers worked to assimilate immigrants into society providing education, jobs, and cultural training. The most famous of which was the Hull House in Chicago run by Jane Addams.

The slavery has been something that has been part of most of the human societies throughout the history, and it was spread out around most of the world.
Explanation:
The slavery basically is representing people that have been stripped of their freedom, and they are forced to work for their owners, are tortured, being used for sacrifices etc. Unfortunately, this was something that was occurring around the whole world, among most of the ethnic groups, and racial groups. It was only recently that the slavery was abolished around the world, and has been made illegal.
The period between the 13th and 17th centuries was the period in which the slavery skyrocketed and was occurring on a much larger scale. Eastern and Western African societies had a tradition of having slaves, and they often forcing them to do the toughest jobs, usually until they are alive. Then the empires from Europe and Southwest Asia started to buy slaves from them, and as they saw good economic opportunity, they were enslaving more and more people.
The Europeans actually took the slaves to other continents, in the Americas, thus the slave trade became international. The slaves were used as labor force for the large plantations. In Southwest Asia, apart from the slaves that were acquired from Africa, there were lot of slaves from the conquered people, or better said, everyone that was not Muslim was enslaved and forced to do the worse jobs and treated like animals.
When the international slave trade came on the scene it was between:
- Africa
- Europe
- North and South America
