Simple exponential smoothing is being used to forecast demand. The previous forecast of 66 turned out to be four units less than

actual demand. The next forecast is 66.6, implying a smoothing constant, alpha, equal to _____ ? The answer is alpa 15, but how did you get the answer?

Answer:

15

Explanation:

Using the Exponential smoothing model below:-

Ft= Ft-1 + α (At-1 – Ft-1)

Where,

Ft= new forecast

Ft-1= previous period forecast

At-1= previous period actual demand

α =?     Ft-1=66    At-1=70        Ft= 66.6

Ft = 66 + α (70-66)

   66.6 = 66+ 4* α

   (66.6-66)= 4* α

   α = 0.6/4

     α = 0.15

Thus, alpha value will be 0.15 for simple exponential smoothing.

Vikentia [17]

Answer:

(i) $940 billion

(ii) $380 billion

(iii) -$80 billion

(iv) $300 billion

Explanation:

Income, Y = $1,500 billion

Government spending, G = $260 billion

Taxes, T = $180 billion,

Investment spending, I = $300 billion

As Y = C + G + I

Consumption spending, C = $1,500 - $260 - $300

                                            = $940 billion

Private savings = Y - T - C

                          = $1,500 - $180 - $940

                          = $380 billion

Public saving = T - G

                      = $180 - $260

                      = -$80 billion

National saving = private + public

                          = $380 - $80

                          = $300 billion

13. A rate quote for an individual Line haul. Copy
Arisa [49]

Answer:

Spot quote

Explanation:

Intermodal transport can be defined as the transportation of goods in one and the same truck or loading medium without handling the goods themselves in a different transport modes.

A shipping container refers to a metal container made from steel and having the ability or strength to withstand all external factors during shipment or storage of materials. It is an essential part of transportation of goods or materials from one location to another, thereby boosting trade between countries.

The various types of shipping containers are, dry storage container, open-side storage container, ISO Reefer container, flat rack container, tunnel container, open top container, double doors container, thermal containers, intermodal freight container etc.

Basically, the two standard sizes of shipping containers are 20ft (6.06m) and 40ft (12.2m): which has a width of 8ft (2.43m) and height of 8.5ft (2.59m).

A spot quote for a freight refers to a rate quote for each individual Line haul. Thus, this rate is usually calculated using current market parameters without a contract.

This ultimately implies that, the spot rate is generally outside the contracted rates and is typically required to be sent immediately.

Albend Holmes wants to deposit $4,500 in a bank account that pays 8.25 percent annually. How many years will it take for his inv
vova2212 [387]

Answer:

10 years

Explanation:

A = P(1 + r)^n

A (amount) = $10,000

P (principal) = $4,500

r = 8.25% = 0.0825

10,000 = 4,500(1 + 0.0825)^n

10,000/4,500 = 1.0825^n

2.22 = 1.0825^n

Log 2.22 = Log1.0825^n

nLog1.0825 = Log2.22

n = Log2.22/Log1.0825 = 0.3464/0.034 = 10 years (to the nearest year)
