In <em>The Crucible</em>, Tituba is an enslaved woman originally brought from Barbados. She is accused of witchcraft, and she confesses to this crime. However, she clarifies that her acts were not intended to be evil, and were instead habits and cultural traits brought over from the Caribbean. Moreover, Tituba tells us that other girls participated in these acts with her, which allows her to escape punishment.
