Homer Hoyt developed a model in 1939 to explain the way cities grow. He stated in his model that cities do not grow like a ring of a tree. Cities have sectors that are developed according to the activities people do or where people lived. The sectors of his model were 1.-a central business district. 2.- Transportation and industry. 3.- low-class residential. 4.- medium-class residential. 5.- high-class residential.
