What is the first question a reader should ask when trying to identify the themes of a novel?

English

Well a theme is the central message and lesson, so the way I learned is to come up with possible morals of the novel, then find evidence for each one, see which one is best supported, and use that one. If you think that will take too long, just find possible morals, then keep ruling them out until the one that makes the most sense is left, then find evidence for only that one.

Hope I helped you.

Casablanca was a hugely anticipated film, one that everyone involved knew would one day be a masterpiece and a legendA. TrueB. F
levacccp [35]

B. False.

In spite of its stellar cast and renown writers, <em>Casablanca</em>'s producers did not expect it to receive any brighter success than other Hollywood films of the year (1942-43).

The budget, a bit over 1 million dollars, was not extraordinarily high.

Upon release, it was actually censored in several regions of the world:

  • it was banned in North Africa, where it was believed to risk stirring up tensions among Vichy regime supporters,
  • it was banned and recut in Ireland, because the evil portrayal of Germany and Nazi-occupied France was interpreted as against the principle of wartime neutrality.

Yet <em>Casablanca</em> received great reviews, was a box-office success, and won 3 Oscars in at the 16th Academy Awards ceremony in 1944: one for Best Picture, another for Best Director for Michael Curtiz, and another for Best Adapted Screenplay for the brothers Epstein and Howard Koch. What's more, it has made its imprint on popular culture by becoming a cult movie, thanks to its memorable characters, lines, and music.

Read the quotation from chapter 5 of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, in which Huck’s father is speaking to him.
iogann1982 [59]
If you know anything about Huck's father, you know that he is a criminal and a drunkard who doesn't want his son to have good thinks in his life. Thus, he will certainly not have a friendly conversation, admit his jealousy, or apologize to his son, which means that the correct answer is Huck and his father will engage in an altercation. Altercation is pretty much a fight.

I need help, can someone please help me! I need to write a two stanzas poem with the ryhme scheme as ABCBBB (16 15 16 15 7). the
mr Goodwill [35]

          Key thing to think about:

- the rhyme scheme as ABCBBB means that "B" lines will all rhyme with the last word

- I think "16 15 16 15 7" is talking about syllable count, so we need to make sure our first line has 16 syllables, etc

I am afraid of the water, as it can be scary down deep

With the unknown terrors lurking beneath the murky, dark blue

The things we do not know under the surface cause me great dread

For unless I find out, these unknown frights will be ringing true

     Because I cannot see through

These great fears of the depths are mighty, and will never go askew

Thinking about the extensive sea can make me queasy

The thoughts swirling of it swallowing you up with jaws of darkness

Your lungs fill quickly with water, unable to breath easy

     Leaves me hugely uneasy

(I am not actually afraid of water lol, but there are a lot of words you can use haha! I hope this will work for your assignment!)

Have a nice day!

I hope this is what you are looking for, but if not - comment! I will edit and update my answer accordingly. (ノ^∇^)

TKAM chapters 1-4 short objective summary
solniwko [45]

Answer:

The story is narrated by a young girl named Jean Louise Finch, who is almost always called by her nickname, Scout. Scout starts to explain the circumstances that led to the broken arm that her older brother, Jem, sustained many years earlier; she begins by recounting her family history. The first of her ancestors to come to America was a fur-trader and apothecary named Simon Finch, who fled England to escape religious persecution and established a successful farm on the banks of the Alabama River. The farm, called Finch’s Landing, supported the family for many years. The first Finches to make a living away from the farm were Scout’s father, Atticus Finch, who became a lawyer in the nearby town of Maycomb, and his brother, Jack Finch, who went to medical school in Boston. Their sister, Alexandra Finch, stayed to run the Landing.
