 Place a question mark or exclamation point within closing quotation marks if the punctuation applies to the quotation itself. Place the punctuation outside the closing quotation marks if the punctuation applies to the whole sentence.

For MLA:

He said, "This is the quotation" (page number with period)

Ex: "She is using brainly" (40).

There is no period or comma after the sentence ends, only after the page number and parenthesis. Also, it depends on what you are using. If it is a website, you use an author's name and the page number, if it's a book, you use the page number. If it's an article, you'd use the author's name, etc.
