<em><u>A political party is usually an organization with a set of ideologies and principles which are supported by the members of the party. The ideologies of the political party provide the basis of an appeal to the general public, to garner support for the party, and to attract membership in large numbers. Members of a political party have the same ideological positions and field candidates in party elections, so that they can come to power, and practice their party’s ideology. A party’s platform provides an individual opportunity to showcase his or her political skills and ideas to the public, also get a chance to participate in the political proceedings of a nation. </u></em>

The term 'Plank' is often used to denote the components of a political platform and is rhetoric of a plank, from which meetings and debates are addressed. The platform of a political party also contains its manifesto, a list of promises concerning public welfare that it shall fulfill on coming to power. The concept of political platform was literally used to denote the wooden platform from which leaders addressed public meetings, debates, etc. The fulfillment of promises under their manifesto depends on their performance in the general elections, for example winning parties tend to fulfill almost all of the pledges within their manifesto. The fulfillment of election manifesto also depends on the power-sharing between the various leaders of different factions, and also whether the party gets a clear majority within the position elected. Coalition governments generally tend to be weak, for elements of dissent observed within the coalition weaken the capacity of the political party to fulfill their promises. 1. To state the position of a party and its goals.

2. They bring people together such that they can be able  to control government.

3. They develop favorable policies which are of their interest to themselves and to groups which supports them.

4. Persuade and organize voters to elect their candidate to office.

We need political parties because they are good in reflecting fundamental divisions in the society about different political parties.
