Anna007 [38]

The jaguar had begged the king forgiveness for the way he acted. He was scared for a severe punishment since he had forgotten to do his duties because he fell asleep. When the jaguar came to the king he was to scared to tell him that he had a dream that gave him a wish, but he told the king that he had a dream. The king turned and looked to the jaguar and he chuckled. The king told him to tell him about what he had dreamed about when he slept. The jaguar told the king that in his dream he was going to marry a beautiful princess with baby blue eyes. He dropped to his knees and begged the king to arrange a marriage for the jaguar and a princess. The king's facial expression turned sour and he warned the jaguar to be careful with what he says because a crazy demand would anger him. The jaguar went silent and thought to himself. The king then told the jaguar that it is not best to ask or even demand something just because he had a dream about it. Such a demand would be ridiculed and make the jaguar look like an idiot. The jaguar continued to stay quiet and after a long time spent in thought he had an idea. He looked back at the king and he said," If we can't make a wish just because we had dreamed about it, then how come man can decide to slaughter animals and life just because they dreamed about eating their flesh or because they hold a grudge towards them. The argument that the king heard from the jaguar hit him and he too was surprised. He told the jaguar that he respects his argument and that he will take his idea into consideration but as for his wish it was denied. He made a law that would prevent animals from having contact with any humans in the wilderness as well as the world. Animals were pulled away from human homes, farms, and facilities to keep them altogether. Although some animals do not share the same views on this subject because some animals have actually befriended humans as pets. Animals protested against this decision and others embraced this new law because they feel it would secure them and their children. The community in the wilderness was divided, torn, and angry. The animals who embraced the decision felt like the opposers were traitors to them and had turned their back on their fellow animals. The animals who opposed the decision decided to form a group to further protest this unjustified decision and elected the wise owl to be their leader due to his ability to convince others about views he sees but they may not be able to see. The owl scheduled a meeting with the king and they both discussed their arguments but the owl told the king of the animals who had befriended the humans and were apart of their families. The king ignored these comments believing his position justified his ruling and the owl was thrown in a prison cell for opposing him and his authority.

Using your knowledge of "Was It a Dream?" match the event with its part of the plot
Marat540 [252]

1. Denouement - B. We are left to wonder what was real and what was a dream.

A denouement is the final piece of the story. In this part, all the plots of a narrative come together to a close, either through a definitive conclusion or a cliffhanger. In "Was It a Dream?", we were left to wonder which events were true and which weren't - and we were left with that ending.

2. Falling action - A. The main character falls unconscious on the grave.

A falling action is typically the act four or five of a narrative, where the plot just went through its climax and the tensions need to be lowered in order to prepare for the finale or the denouement. In the story, the falling action begins with the event described in option A.

3. Exposition - C. We learn that the woman died after developing a cough.

An exposition is sort of like an introduction to a narrative where all necessary details would be told to the readers/audience. From the term itself, certain details are exposed to the readers. This is used to get the readers to jump into the world. Choice C contains an event that we have learned from the exposition.

4. Rising action - D. The main character looks for his lover's tombstone.

A rising action is the piece of the narrative that most of the time immediately follows the exposition. In this part, tensions in the narrative would slowly start to build up in order to lead the readers to a climax - the highest moment of the story. In "Was It a Dream?" we find the main character looking for his lover's tombstone after we learned that she died after having a cough.
