The Battle of Philippi was the final battle in the Wars of the Second Triumvirate. This was one of the largest battles of the Roman Civil Wars, and it consisted of two engagements. In the first one. the forces of Brutus faced Octavian, while Antony's forces fought those of Cassius. All armies were badly trained and the battle had no winners. However, Cassius committed sui.cide. During the second encounter, Brutus's army was the losing one, and he committed sui.cide in turn.
