They were both fighting for Ohio. The reason why is native Americans first lived there but then French found it and then they became a team. But eventually they went to a forest nearby and left Ohio, British found it and claimed it was there’s. That is why they went into war.
Oppressive aspects of colonial rule were that often the rulers did not care about the local people and would exploit both the workforce and the goods and commodities found in the country. In southeast asia the problems were with France and Britain who tried to control the government completely without giving locals any rights that they didn't care about.
