Answer: B) kristoff worked hard on his diet, but he could not resisted snacking.

Explanation: The tense of a verb tells you when a person did something or when something existed or happened. In English, there are three main tenses: the present, the past, and the future. A verb tense shift error occurs when the times of the verbs used in a sentence or paragraph are not consistent. From the given options, the one that has a verbe tense shift error is option B, because after the verb in past form "could" it can't be another verb in past, the correct sentence would be: "kristoff worked hard on his diet, but he could not resist snacking."

The sentence that possesses a verb tense shift error is option B. What makes this sentence erroneous is that part "could not resisted". Since the linking verb is already in the past form which is "could", then the verb next to it should only take the regular or present form. This should be "could not resist" only.

Can you guys give me some examples of helping verbs, please I appreciate it
Fed [463]

“Be” verbs. The term “be verbs” is a little deceiving because they include more than the word “be.” ...

Have. The helping verb have is used to make perfect tenses. ...

Do. The verb “do” can perform a variety of functions:

Can, could.

May, might.

Will, would.

Shall, should.

Must.
