Answer:

Option D.

Explanation:

It greatly depleted the continent's workforce, is the right answer.

For several reasons, the slave trade was harmful to Africa. It sundered families, generated fear, damaged communities and governmental arrangements. Besides this, the most significant reason why this trade was so devastating to Africa was that it exhausted the workforce of the continent. The slave traders were more interested in persons who were strong and had knowledge of agriculture. This meant, the traders bought all those young strong men who had skills and left Africa with weak and unskilled people. This resulted in the depletion of the continent's workforce.

How does democracy and a market economy work together
VARVARA [1.3K]

Answer:

A free market economy requires less state intervention. Concurrently, it often requires a degree of democratisation of its institutions which- to a certain extent- facilitates economic activity. This is at least partially true as far as a significant number of countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia are concerned. Thus, it seems that a democratic climate seems to favour a free market economy. At the same time, a free market economy appears to be reliant on democracy for its functioning. This reciprocal relationship presents an interesting research ground that has probably been explored in insufficient depth. What are your kind responses to this empirical observation?
