What sort of English class are you taking? Is it mostly reading? Mostly writing? AP? Etc. If it's reading with quizzes, make sure to take notes as you read. Don't read the assignments last minute.
If you struggle writing essays, make sure to have an outline and evidence chosen beforehand.
If you're doing in-class essays or responses to passages, always reread the passage...
The point is that there's lots of different things you can do depending on the class.
