Over time, the respect that the Romans felt for the Etruscans grew. Etruscans are credited for bringing their culture, art and music to the North of Italy, thus being influential in the development of early Rome.

In later years, the Romans increasingly saw the Etruscans as honorable men. Romans learned a lot of the Etruscan culture, and even adopted their way of dressing, aspects of their religion and their way of organizing armies.

Largely due to his efforts and the support of his lobby, the United Nations was propelled into action. In response to Lemkin's arguments, the United Nations adopted the term in 1948 when it passed the "Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide".
