Believed to have crossed over from Asia through the Bering straight during one if the Ice Ages, these people, especially the ones that settled in the northernmost regions of Canada, are believed to have descended from the Thules, and are called the Inuit. The Inuit are believed to have initiated their settlement in one of Canada´s coldest, and most frigid regions, a tundra nothing less, around 400 to 1000 years ago. Today, there are still people living in this tundra ecosystem, which consists of frigid and almost arid lands, with very little vegetation.
