Your question is incomplete because you have not provided the paragraph, which is the following:

Elizabethans do not understand infection and contagion as we do. It is not that they are completely ignorant as to how illnesses spread—physicians believe they know perfectly well—it is rather that their understanding is very different from ours. The principal ideas underpinning most Elizabethan medical thinking come from Galen, who lived in the second century A.D. Physicians will cite him as an unquestionable authority when they explain to you that your health depends on a balance of the four humors: yellow bile or choler, black bile, phlegm, and blood. If there is too much choler in your body, you will grow choleric; too much blood and you will be sanguine; too much phlegm and you will be phlegmatic; and too much black bile makes you melancholic. It is from these imbalances that sickness arises.

Answer:

c. It details the belief that bodily humors affect health.

Explanation:

According to the paragraph from "The Time Traveler's Guide to Elizabethan England," the author Ian Mortimer makes reference to Galen's beliefs, which were spread to the physician world and everyone took for granted. In fact, they spoke about how four humors like yellow bile or choler, black bile, phlegm and blood influenced a person's health and how an unbalanced distribution of them produced sickness.

Hi helpppppppppppp I
Ede4ka [16]
It is defining.

Defining relative clause does not have a comma, while a non-defining relative clause has.

For example, if the sentence is:
The children, who hate chocolates, are uncommon.
- since there is comma in this sentence, it is non-defining.

- while if there is no comma like the question in the picture, it is defining.

Why do most people in South America live near the coast?
pav-90 [236]

Answer:

I am taking World Geo right now....we just studied South America. There are several factors as to why the population is concentrated along the coast. For starters the rainforests are not good for farming...there is no nutrients in the soil to sustain agriculture ( all of the nutrients are in the native vegetation) Another reason why people live along the coast is because major cities are along there. People migrate to the cities to look for work because the poor have no farmland and they need jobs to make a living. Alot of the good farmland is still held in large estates by the rich, which was passed down from generation to generation from when South America was being colonized by the Spanish and the Portugese.

Read the excerpt below and answer the question.
Andrew [12]

According to the excerpt, the option that identifies an implicit meaning one could draw from it would be the second one: "Locke is unfamiliar with the term <em>idea</em>".

In the excerpt, Locke is not asking what Idea is nor is he being uncertain about the relationship between speculative and practical ideas. He seems to never heard it before and the exact meaning fades away.

That's why he asks what it represents and not its definition or for someone to repeat the explanation. He just needs an example to clarify the boundaries of the <em>idea's</em> meaning.
