Anni [7]

Answer:

John Wilkes booth was a strong supporter of the South.

Explanation:

When the Civil War began, Booth was a strong supporter of the Southern resistance. During a performance in Albany, New York he revealed his admiration for the South’s secession, calling it “heroic.” His audience was enraged, calling his words “treasonous statements,” but their shouts did little to curb his success. Booth did not appreciate the political outcome of the presidential election. When Lincoln was elected, Booth drafted a long statement discrediting the abolitionist movements of the North, but the statement was never published. Booth was reportedly outspoken about his love for the South and hatred for Lincoln. With this hatred and tension building up, Booth decided that he was going to kill the president.

olga2289 [7]

Answer:

(1) <em>"If we may collect the sentiments of the people of America, from their own  </em>

<em>most solemn declarations, they hold this truth as self-evident, that all </em>

<em>men are by nature free."  </em>

Nature in this case is used to talk about what comes naturally to a person. It's using it like it is their natural response to become free.

(2) <em>"Some are of such a nature that they cannot be surrendered.</em>"

Nature in this case is used to talk about a person's qualities. This is indicated by the words "some are of such." In this case, their nature doesn't allow them to be surrendered, or give in.

Naya [18.7K]

This question is incomplete. I have found the complete question online. Since the passage is the same, I will omit it:

. . . but Michael was just laughing at him.

What would be the BEST theme for this passage?

1. Everything always works out in the end.

2. Always treat people as kindly as you would like to be treated.

3. You should always carry extra money.

4. Be nice to everyone, they could end up being a good friend.

Answer:

The best theme for the passage is:

4. Be nice to everyone, they could end up being a good friend.

Explanation:

We may be tempted to choose theme number 2 but, after thoroughly reading the passage, we can tell number 4 is the best option. The lesson or moral of the story is not simply about being kind for its own sake. There is interest involved. According to the end of the story, you may need that person later, just like Caleb ended up needing Michael. Thus, it pays off to be kind to them just in case.
