Answer:

See explanation below.

Explanation:

What I Find Compelling about the Idea of God as Trinity

The idea of God being composed of three-in-one is amazing and captures my imagination. I like it that each is separate and also together. A paraphrase of Luke 3:22 that shows all three together was when Jesus was being baptized, the spirit of God descended on him in the form of a dove and a voice from Heaven said "This is my son, in whom I am well pleased." God was and is pleased with his son - delighted with him.

I find it compelling that God is delighted with Jesus, and loves him. The reason I find this compelling is that we have such a need for love in this existence. We can see that there is love between God and Jesus. Jesus loves the Father and the Father loves the Son. I like knowing that love exists at the level of immortality, much less at my level, that of mortality.

What is confusing about it?

In this existence, we are contained in a single individual. We can communicate and may feel like we have come to a meeting of the minds, and agreement. But we might still have a lingering worry that maybe we are not fully in agreement - and that a loved one might walk out - for example.

But for God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit - there is no doubt between them all. They know they are in agreement. But it is confusing, it is mystery.

Why Might the Christian Doctrine of "God as Trinity" be Important?

The scripture talks about how that the Holy Spirit is inside someone who is a Christian in Acts 2:38. This passage says "Peter replied, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." This is an impressive and crucial gift. How else can we as Christians resist temptations and make moral virtuous decisions?

The idea that Jesus is working now to get everything ready to turn back to God at some point in the future helps us to know something about what is going on in the spiritual realm. This is shown in I Cor 15: 24 "Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power." It is helpful to me to have some idea of what is going on, especially when I see bad things happening to good people or some other thing that seems unfair.

Then I note in Revelation, how key scenes show continuous worship and adoration of God. Revelation 4:8 through 11 gives more information but verse 8 provides an insightful snapshot "Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,' who was, and is, and is to come." The reason this is important to me is that I can do this! I can worship and adore God right here and now in my heart, my mind, my actions, words, and thoughts. When I do this, I am joining in with what is happening in Heaven.

In this way, I hope to touch the unseen. In this way I want to have some sort of mindfulness of spiritual things. These are things that seem important to to me, to live a life of inner peace before God in Jesus name.
