In the novel A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, the character called Scrooge goes through a catharsis - he manages, just in time as far as his age is concerned, to reinvent himself. He goes through an 'enlightenment' when the ghost of his old business partner comes back from the dead momentarily to tell him about the shackles of sin (greed, selfishness, uncharitable behavior, avarice and general penny-pinching meanness) and where it has led him in the afterlife. It has brought him nothing but misery - but Scrooge can avoid it if he manages to mend his ways before his own death. This requires remorse, sorrow and genuine shame on Scrooge's part. At first he doesn't seem to be learning any lessons - then there is an illumination (he asks what will become of Tiny Tim and now seems to genuinely care.) The change in Scrooge is a change of heart.

What are three goals that you plan on accomplishing this year? And what plan of action will you use to accomplish them?
irina1246 [14]

goals: get a stinking job, lose weight, and get in touch with old friends

I would try to first finish my senior year early so that I have time for a job, exercise and don't overeat, and just simply talk to my old friends

Read the passage.
s344n2d4d5 [400]

Answer:

The sentence which contains a fallacy is:

B. Unless everyone in the U.S. including our grandparents can successfully use social media, we will be left behind.

Explanation:

A fallacy takes place when our logic is flawed, which undermines the strength of our argument. We have an example of a fallacy in letter B. Let's analyze why.

According to sentence B, we only have two options:

1. Have everyone successfully use social media;

2. Be left behind.

The writer of the sentence makes it seem that these are the only two ways to go. We either do A, or we'll get B. However, that is not true. There are several other ways to go. Even if our parents do not learn to successfully access social media, we can still stay ahead. Therefore, we can safely say that letter B has a fallacy.

labwork [276]

Explanation:

Here’s the deal:Voice is what makes your writing different from anyone else’s. Special. Unique. It’s what sets you apart.

Are you funny? Sarcastic? Patient? Pessimistic? Always ready with advice? Do you like to write long sentences full of descriptions? Are you more of a quick and to the point kind of person? Do you pour adjectives into your writing thunderstorm-style? Do you like bright, short words that pack a punch?

Use your own voice as you write. There is no one right way to tell any story, write any paper, pen any column. Be yourself on the page, and your writing will shine What matters? Write about what matters in the world, writing as you would if you and I were having a conversation. Use your favorite words, your best anecdotes, your true style and voice. By all means, please use the first person.
