Answer:

Helen Tucker meant so much to Gregory, and for plenty of reasons. However, Gregory lacked everything Helen seemed to possess. He took hope in the belief that these things would bring him happiness and make him appear significant to those around him or, hopefully, the teacher. Gregory goes on to claim that she was popular, and Gregory longed for the attention that Helen received. He just “made noises to be noticed.” The teacher in which he previously strived to please or to at least seem important to made Gregory have a sense of worthlessness compared to the rest of the class, or at least not feel as important as he had anticipated. He began dreaming, just wishing to be Helen Tucker. And suddenly, like a spark in an abyss of sorrow, he fell in love with Helen. She was the embodiment of everything that Gregory ever hoped for, and so he greatly admired her. Gregory tells that she would, if he didn’t come to close, wink and say hello to him. He stated that it was a good feeling. He felt a sense of accomplishment. He was noticed by the one thing, the everything that he ever strived to be. All of this, and Helen was white. A wonderful girl with a pale complexion. Despite Helen’s small attempts of being nice, the two were to refrain from communicating in the classroom. Abiding by the rules, Gregory keeps his distance when made to, but just a wink or smile was enough to keep him pushing through the days.

Read the excerpt from part one of Trifles. COUNTY ATTORNEY. How did she seem to feel about you coming? HALE. Why, I don’t think
mario62 [17]

Answer:

It suggests that she did not care about his death.

Explanation:

Mrs. Wright, a character in the play Trifles, kills her husband because of her loneliness. The police and her neighbors come to her house to investigate. Mrs. Hale, when asked about how Mrs. Wright behaved, says that she laughed after killing her husband.

It would seem based on this that Mrs. Wright didn't feel anything bad about her husband's death. She experienced severe loneliness and depression in her small-town, rural life, that she didn't see another escape other than murdering her own husband. Even though the husband did not treat her badly, per se, she still felt the need to get rid of him and regain her freedom.
