My mother finally went to work as a cook and left me and my brother alone in the flat each day with a loaf of bread and a pot of

tea. When she returned at evening she would be tired and sometimes dispirited and would cry a lot. Sometimes, when she was in despair, she would call us to her and talk to us for hours, telling us that we now had no father, that our lives would be different from those of other children, that we must learn as soon as possible to take care of ourselves, to dress ourselves, to prepare our own food; that we must take upon ourselves the responsibility of the flat while she worked. Wright includes this text to show how hardworking this mother is and how she teaches her children to learn and become successful even though they might not have the most fortunate situation at hand,

Maybe because it will inspire readers that are in a similar situation with kids to do the same because without that knowledge of taking care of yourself, you may not survive in the world to well unlike people who have the knowledge of how to take care of themselves.

The correct answer should be C.The ideas that philosophers expound are the most notable aspects of their lives.

We don't know whether he wanted a family or not so it's not A. Saying it is an impediment might be too harsh since it's not an impediment if he wants it to be so. It's not D because they often do not think alike.

Read the quotation from "Song of Myself."
STatiana [176]

Answer:

B). He wants to communicate directly with readers.

Explanation:

'Song of Myself' by Walt Whitman explores the theme of individuality and democracy. Whitman employs a 'democratic' fusion of elevated and homely language to convey his message more effectively. His language experiment of combining high and low styles together signaled the idea of transcendentalism.

As per the question, Whitman employs a simple phrase like 'Who I am or What I mean?" to 'communicate with the readers directly.' The central idea of the poem celebrates the entire humankind and their individual selves and thus, the use of a blended language including simple and elevated helped him convey his idea effectively. Thus, option B is the correct answer.
