Answer:

India had the passage to Eastern Asia.

Explanation:

India often had the trade route to Asia, so instead of allowing the european traders to pass through their land, they´d just go to China and the other eastern asiatic empires, buy whatever the europeans wnated and re-sell it to the European traders that arrived at India. That´s why historically India in ancient times was the middle man.

4. Does Wells place blame only on those that orchestrate the lynching? Whom else does she blame?
Crazy boy [7]

Wells blames a system in which racist ideology and violence against blacks has become a norm.

She describes in her text that there is an "unwritten law" that whites in particular white women, are in danger when living surrounding by blacks. The lynchings are public and made into a media spectacle. This behavior supports the mob, encourages the mob, and escalates the violence taking place because it literally supported or at the very least no one speaks out against it.

Lynching in America became common following the passage of the Civil War amendments and the end of Reconstruction. To maintain power structure in states where whites were completely outnumbered by blacks, fear and violence ruled. Ida B. Wells was considered a "muckraker", a journalist who exposed the muck or dirt of society. She investigated and exposed the lynching culture of the South. Despite, the support and disgust by many Americans who read her work, no anti-lynching law ever went to effect.

mestny [16]
Here's the thing: President Lincoln had absolutely no way to actually enforce the Emancipation Proclamation. It was a mere gesture.
Now, he had his reasons for making such a gesture.
For one, Lincoln hoped that, when the slaves heard that they had been granted their freedom, the sudden wave of freedmen, as they would come to be called, would help disrupt the war effort.
Perhaps some of these freedmen would join the Union army. That was another small reason.
As for why he didn't extend the Proclamation to the entire country...well, the thing was, he planned to.
Lincoln's greatest ambition was to free the slaves. But even in the North, there existed strong racism. Plus, some Northerners had slaves too, and Lincoln needed the North's support, not only to win the war, but also to support the Thirteenth Amendment he planned to propose after the war ended. This Thirteenth Amendment would make outlaw slavery in the United States forever.
