What happened at Concord in April of 1775?
velikii [3]

Answer:

The British retreated from the fierce fighting of the minutemen.

Explanation:

About 700 British soldiers, led by Lt. Col. Francis Smith, were given a secret order to seize and destroy military supplies collected by the Massachusetts militia at Concord. With the help of efficient data collection, the colonial patriots learned of the attack weeks before the march that could jeopardize their supplies and move them elsewhere. They also received details of the British plans the night before the battle and were able to quickly alarm regional militias about enemy movements.

The first shots were fired at Lexington at dawn. Militias were outnumbered and forced to withdraw, and British troops continued on to Concord, where they were looking for supplies. At the Old North Bridge in Concord, about 500 American fighters defeated three British troops. British troops retreated from US positions after the open air battle.

More American fighters soon came to grips and caused heavy losses to the British as they retreated to Boston.

How did the Twenty-Sixth Amendment address the concerns of American youth during the Vietnam War?
Zina [86]

Answer:

C. It brought young people, who had been disillusioned by the government's handling of the war, into the political process.

Explanation:

The 26th amendment to the Constitution granted all persons of the age 18 or older the right to vote. Prior to this amendment, the legal voting age was 21.

Since this amendment allowed for younger people to vote, it gave them a voice in politics and adjoined them to the political process.

In at least 100 words, compare and contrast the written version of Sojourner Truth’s "Ain’t I a Woman?" with the speech she deli
Nostrana [21]

Below are the two main written versions of Sojourner’s speech, the original, on the left, was delivered at the Woman's Rights Convention in Akron, Ohio on May 29, 1851. The full text of each speech follows the synopsis below so you can see the differences line by line. I have highlighted overt similarities between the two versions. While Frances Gage changed most of the wording and added the southern slave dialect to her 1863 version, it is clear the origin of Gage's speech comes from Sojourner's original 1851 speech. It is interesting to note that Marius Robinson and Sojourner Truth were good friends and it was noted that he and she went over his transcription of her speech before he published it. One could infer from this pre printing meeting, that even if he did not capture every word she said, that she must have blessed his transcription and given permission to print her speech in the Anti‐Slavery Bugle.
