Show all your work multiplying the polynomials above:
Alika [10]

Answer:

3x^{5} - 11x^{4} - 4x³ + 3x² + x

Step-by-step explanation:

(x³ - 4x² + 1)(3x² + x)

Each term in the second factor is multiplied by each term in the first factor, that is

x³(3x² + x) - 4x²(3x² + x) + 1 (3x² + x) ← distribute parenthesis

= 3x^{5} + x^{4} - 12x^{4} - 4x³ + 3x² + x ← collect like terms

= 3x^{5} - 11x^{4} - 4x³ + 3x² + x

How many liters of water must be added to 15 liters of 40 % sugar syrup to obtain 30 % sugar syrup?
faltersainse [42]

5 liters of water must be added.

Step-by-step explanation:

In this question form and equate equations for the amount of sugar in both syrups which does not change.

Let the amount of water to be added to 15 liters of 40% sugar syrup to be w liters

The 40% sugar syrup will contain  15 liters of 40% sugar syrup. This means that the amount of sugar contained in the syrup is 15 *0.4 = 6 liters......(i)

So for a 30% sugar syrup, the amount of syrup is =15 +w *L , thus amount of sugar in this syrup will be : (15+w)0.3*L--------(ii)

Because only water was added, the amount of sugar remains the same hence equate the equations for amount of sugar;

0.3(15+w)=6

solve for value of w as

4.5+0.3 w =6

0.3 w = 6-4.5

0.3 w = 1.5

w= 1.5/0.3 = 5 liters

A sales associate in a department store earns a commission on each suit and each pair of shoes sold. One week, she earned $47 in
ahrayia [7]
For this one you have to make the equations. And what I like to do is write it out, like this.One Week- $473 suits 1 shoes (pairs)
Another Week- $1077 suits 2 shoes (pairs)
Then I make/choose my variables.For suits, it's going to be x.And For shoes let's do y.(Or if you would like better you can do x and y, which ever works best for you)
Now for the equations:One Week,   47= 3x +1yAnother Week,   107= 7x + 2y
Now it's time for the Substitution! Your last problem had it easier because it was already in the form, y=mx+b, but since ours aren't we have to change it to y=mx+b.
One Week,  -0.33y + 15.67 =x Another Week,  -0.29y + 15.29 =x
Now you can use substitution. :)For y i got 9.5 or 9.50.For x, i got 12.34
So the answer is (9.5,12.34) or (12.34, 9.5)

Natalie made a nut mixture that contains
Harman [31]

Answer:

50%

Step-by-step explanation:

10 kg of mixed nuts that contain 60% peanuts

60(10)

plus

15 kg of a different brand of mixed nuts. with x% peanuts

x(15)

=

That makes 25 kg with 54% peanuts

54(25)

--------------------------

Equation

60(10) + x(15) = 54(25)

600 + 15x = 1350

Subtract 600 from both sides

15x = 750

Diviede both sides by 15

x = 50

50%
