The owner identified their runaway slaves and servant by describing their clothing and how they talk. Sometimes with identification mark in their body. Owners sometimes directed the slave hunters with the direction they have run, who found fugitives (slaves) with the help of dogs. Slaves and servant considered to be the property of their master, who had right to sold and purchase them.
Many landowners, especially in Virginia found that runaway slaves were better and manageable than the servants since the slaves can be determined by their skin, so it was so easy to identify and to capture runaway servants. This lead to more slaves were preferred rather than the servants.
Since it motivated by the Declaration of Independence, the Declaration of Sentiments attested ladies' equity in legislative issues, family, instruction, employments, religion and ethics.
