(x+2)/(x-3) is already a rational function with a linear binomial in both the numerator and denominator...

The vertical asymptote occurs when the slope is undefined, in this case when you have division by zero, when x=3.  So the vertical asymptote is about the vertical line x=3.

The horizontal asymptote occurs about the horizontal line about the line y=k which f(x) approaches, but does not equal as x approaches ±oo.  Which in this case is relatively intuitive, but if you weren't sure, you could divide all terms by the highest power of x, in this case:

(x/x+2/x)/(x/x-3/x)  as x approaches oo is

(1+0)/(1-0)=1, so the horizontal asymptote is about the horizontal line y=1

The y-intercept occurs when x=0 so:

f(0) is just 2/-3=-2/3, so the y-intercept is the point (0, -2/3)

What are the values that go into the green box?
Temka [501]

Answer:

The value belonging to the green box is b

Step-by-step explanation:

QP uses the points Q and P

Q is (0,-a)

P is (b,-c)

The distance between the two points can be calculated using the distance formula;

D = √(x2-x1)^2 + (y2-y1)^2

(x1,y1) = (0,-a)

(x2,y2) = (b,-c)

D = √(b-0)^2 + (-c + a)^2

D = √(b)^2 + (-c + a)^2

A triangle has an angle that measures 55°. The other two angles are in a ratio of 11:14. What are the measures of those two angl
koban [17]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  55° : 70°

Step-by-step explanation:

The sum of the two other angles is ...

  180° -55° = 125°

The sum of the ratio units is 11+14 = 25. Each ratio unit stands for 125°/25 = 5°. Then the other two angles are ...

  11×5° = 55°

  14×5° = 70°
