History

President Cleveland reused to annex the territory of Hawaii because he believed the white settlers and land owners had unconstitutionally and unjustly deposed the popular Queen Liliukalani of Hawaii.

Hawaii had already been recognized as an independent Kingdom during the time of President Tyler. The kingdom operated numerous consulates around the world and had treaties with over 90 nations.

However, the local population of plantation owners became increasingly powerful and demanded the right to intervene in government policies.

Most of the plantation owners were Americans but were also supported by a small group of local rebels who wanted to overthrow the monarch.

Eventually, the Queen was deposed in a coup and the United States Navy was called in to control the situation.

President Grover Cleveland refused to annex Hawaii because he believed that the white planters, located in Hawaii, had unjustly deposed of Queen Liliukalani.

The white planters in Hawaii executed illegal means of overthrowing Queen Liliukalani. They did this against the wishes of most native Hawaiians.

Explain the evils of Monopolies.
Oliga [24]

Answer:

Monopolies are a very evil kind of market. When there are many companies producing a good they would produce a certain amount of a product and sell it at a competitive price that would not be too cheap but not be too expensive since if it made it too cheap then nobody would earn money, and if they made it too expensive then their rivals would make money.

But monopolies make a small amount of products that are extremely overpriced for what they are. They can do this since there is no other company to oppose them and they can do whatever they want with the price.

A major goal of the Hutu-led regime in Rwanda
Pavel [41]
A major goal of the Hutu-led regime in Rwanda in mid-1994 was to (1) eliminate the Tutsi minority. There had been ethnic tensions between the minority Hutu population and the majority Tutsi population, because the Hutus had been favored by the Belgians (who had previously colonized the country) and now held high positions in government and were economically better off. Once the plane of the president of Rwanda was shot down, the genocide began within a few hours.

WHY do politicians & others try to limit, or make it difficult to vote? Who benefits when people are denied the right to vot
Delvig [45]

Answer:

Explanation:

I think you really ought to become familiar with the civil rights movement, particularly if you are an American. The issue in the 60s began as an issue that centered around voting.

Let's start with the fact that in the 60s, there was no such thing as on line. Let's also begin by saying that in the 60s, when the colored went to register, they were asked "qualifying questions" that no one knew the answer to, probably not even the person asking them. Things like if you lived in Alabama you might be asked how many counties there were and what are they.

Think of why people might withhold the vote. The colored in many counties outnumbered the whites. They could elect sheriffs council members, judges, and any other elected official.

There are enough problems with voting without adding the need to see who was casting the ballot. Think of what can be done. You can set up an email address for six people and let all six vote.

Voting is a hard fought for right. People have died for it. It's worth a little bit of inconvenience to make sure it is as honest as it can be made.
