The Pacific Ocean covers a greater area and it also contains a big quantity of methane which is a greenhouse gas that can be released to the atmosphere if there is an unwanted disturbance to the seawater.  

South Pacific also has the largest carbon dioxide reservoir which is a greenhouse gas as well at the depth of 2 kilometer - 4.3 kilometer. This ocean is one of the largest ventilation window due to the emission of greenhouse gases. The ocean currents release water rich in carbon from greater depth to the surface.

As the process continues, the carbon dioxide gas from the carbo-rich water is released to the atmosphere.
