The correct answer would be option C: "have been handed down through many generations". The speaker gave many examples in the excerpt of how his grandfather's grandparents had used the Balek scales such as: "their grubby hands holding their little baskets of mushrooms", to show that the scales are a family relic and where passed down until they reached the speaker.

The speaker does not say or imply that the scales have never moved, nor that those that use them feel frightened or intimidated. He also never says anything that implies that the scales do not work, therefore options A, B and D are incorrect.

Nora: Listen, Torvald. I have heard that when a wife deserts her husband’s house, as I am doing now, he is legally freed from al
Aneli [31]

Answer: Nora's speech resolves the conflict and develops the theme that women have an equal right to be free.

Explanation:

A Doll's House is a three-act play written by Henrik Ibsen. Its premiere was performed at the Royal Theater in Copenhagen, in 1879.

Some critics considered the play's ending scandalous, while others praised it as revolutionary. At the end, Nora decides to leave home and become free from all the duties and humiliation, which was unimaginable in 1879, when women were dependent on their husbands. The excerpt given above celebrates Nora's independence and equal rights. She is aware that her husband will not look after her when she leaves, but chooses to be free from all the obligations. Although the society might disapprove of her decision, the feeling of freedom is more important to her.

How do the settings of "Call of the Wild" book represent the late 1890s of Alaska Gold Rush? Help me plzz
dusya [7]
The Call of the Wild was written by Jack London and published in 1903. Most of the novel takes place in the Yukon Territory, which is between Alaska and present-day Canada. The story takes place during the Klondike Gold Rush, shortly after gold was discovered in the Klondike in 1896.
