Due to the potential gravitational force found in the mantle, tectonic plates move one below the other (including the oceanic crust and continental crust) because of the high density found in the lithosphere of the ocean. All this happens at convergent boundaries of tectonic plates and the name of this geological process is called subduction.
The subduction zones are those where all this happens, and where there are usually many volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis, the product of all the movements made by the plates.

plate moves under another tectonic plate and sinks into the mantle as
the plates converge is called SUBDUCTION
