2. The executive power which is in charge of enforcing the laws and corresponds to the figure we know as a president.

3. The judicial power which has the power to decide if a law has been broken or not and has the power to dictate punishment in cases where it deems necessary.

The system of checks and balances makes sure that these three branches work smoothly and avoids one branch from having more power than the others.

When prices fell they tried to produce even more to pay their debts, taxes and living expenses. In the early 1930s prices dropped so low that many farmers went bankrupt and lost their farms.
