Answer:
The United States was Allied with the U.S.S.R,, because they had a common enemy, the Axis Power. That being said, they set aside their differences to fight. After all, there is a saying, "The enemy of my enemy, is my friend".
Why did they become enemies and "fought" the Cold War afterwards (more or less proxy wars) against each other? They didn't have a common enemy anymore, and they were trying to expand their spheres of influence as well as creating alliances and buffer zones to become the world power essentially. In a world, there is no such thing as "two superpowers", but only one. As in history, we see that the U.S.S.R fell apart, leading to the U.S. being the only major power in the world.

A. Chamberlain's appeasement of Hitler at Munich.
Chamberlain governed Britain before WWII, and World War One was still fresh in the minds of his citizens, who had lost fathers, sons, brothers and comrades, with many men coming back without limbs, or with PTSD or "shellshock". Chamberlain's main concern was to avoid another war at all costs, by allowing Hitler's Germany to break many rules of their constraints, enforced by the Treaty of Versailles. Chamberlain resigned once he realized war was imminent, and Churchill took office, having believed that Appeasement was shameful and ineffective.
The correct answer to this open question is the following.
As a precursor to the articles of confederation, the political rights that Jefferson declared that the United States possessed that are similar to other independent nations at the time were the right to express with freedom, the right of choosing a religion, the right of association, and the right to choose their own form of government.
Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman, the founding fathers who drafted the Declaration of Independence promulgated on July 4, 1776, were very explicit in declaring the British government aggravations and the desire of the 13 colonies to be independent. Then, the Articles of Confederation were the first form of Constitution in America. A good intent for the 13 colonies to form a nation.
