The safety inspector notes that Ray also needs to plan for a vertical ladder through the center of the coaster's parabolic shape

for access to the coaster to perform safety repairs. Find the vertex and the equation for the axis of symmetry of the parabola, showing your work, so Ray can include it in his coaster plan.

Answer with explanation:

Equation of the Parabola is

f(x)= y=3x^2+9x+12\\\\y=3[x^2+3 x+4]\\\\y=3[(x+\frac{3}{2})^2+4-(\frac{3}{2})^2]\\\\y=3[(x+\frac{3}{2})^2+(\frac{\sqrt 7}{2})^2]\\\\y-\frac{21}{4}=3[(x+\frac{3}{2})^2]

Vertex of the parabola can be obtained by

   x+\frac{3}{2}=0\\\\ x=\frac{-3}{2}\\\\ y-\frac{21}{4}=0\\\\y=\frac{21}{4}\\\\ Vertex(\frac{-3}{2},\frac{21}{4})

Axis is that line of parabola which divides the parabola into two equal halves.

x+\frac{3}{2}=0\\\\x=-\frac{3}{2}

You can rearrange f(x) as:

f(x) = 3(x^2 + 3x) + 12 = 3(x+1.5)^2 +5.25

So you can see the vertex is at (0,5.25) when x = -1.5

The axis of symmetry then lies in x = -1.5

Jimmy decides to mow lawns to earn money. The initial cost of his electric lawnmower is $350. Electricity and maintenance costs
hodyreva [135]

Answer:

a) C(x) = 4x + 350

b) 13x; $13

c) 39

Step-by-step explanation:

a) Initial cost of lawnmower = $350

Maintenance cost for 1 lawn = $4

Maintenance cost for x lawns = 4x

Total cost function, C(x) = 4x + 350

b) Revenue = Cost + Profit

= C(x) + P(x)

= 4x + 350 + 9x - 350

= 13x

Charge per lawn = \frac{\text{Revenue}}{\text{Number of lawns}}

= \frac{13x}{13} = \$13

c) For Jimmy to make a profit, P(x) must be greater than zero i.e.

P(x) >0

9x-350 >0

9x >350

The smallest integer value of x that satisfies this inequality is 39. Therefore, Jimmy needs to mow 39 lawns in order to start making profit.

You want to know how many cups of birdseed are in each new bag. Which situation about Hayley’s birdseed best represents the equa
allochka39001 [22]
The answer is D. The +1 refers to the extra cup leftover from a previous bag. X represents how many cups are in each bag, and that is what you need to know. The three represents how many bags she bought, and the 25 represents how many cups of birdseed she had overall.

Hopefully this helps!

Negative two y is less than 6
USPshnik [31]

Answer: y is greater than -3

Step-by-step explanation:

so first write out the equation:

-2y less than 6

then we isolate the variable by dividing -2 from both sides so.....

6 divided by -2 equals -3

now since we divided it by a negetive the sight must change so........
